There are a few ways. You can turn the key on and listen for it, my take two people. The other way is to bring a power wire down to the FP and just manually apply power.
If you are looking for pressure, you can disconnect the output line (high pressure) and install a gauge in the outlet. This requires a special fuel line adapter, but they can be made by picking up an OEM line from a wrecking yard.
If you are just curious, you can open the fuel bowl drain and place a hose on it. Turn the key on and you should get a decent stream of fuel that is pressurized to flow.

well the issue i am having is i am blowing the fuel pump fuse. i would like to test the pump to see if that is the problem or a short somwhere else.
