Battery Cables
My 88, 4.9, hooked up to one of the starter mounting bolts. I shortened it and used a bigger cable and hooked it to the alternator bracket. My cranking was slow, my radio would loose memory every time I started it and it would stall from low voltage with the A/C on when I was at idle. Since I done this, I have had no problems at all.

It should have an exta eye in the middle that goes to a bolt in the frame right behind the R shock/spring tower. Then on I-6s, it goes to the upper starter mounting bolt. On V-8s, it goes to a stud just behind the lower radiator hose above the oil pan lip. Either is good, but I prefer the starter bolt.
If you can't figure out how to put an eye on the new cable, buy another with 2 eyes about 18" long. Run the main (-) cable from the battery to the starter (or stud if you prefer), then run the 18" one from there back to the frame.
