The PO (my Dad) had some old Hydraulic trailer brakes installed for years. He disconnected the brake line and I finally removed the junk box last weekend.
Before I start running up and down the mountain towing my trailer this Spring, I would like to install a modern trailer brake controller. I have done this on more recent vehicles and it has been simple (plug and play) thanks to modern wiring harnesses. What it going to take on my 79?
pretty simple. usually there's 4 wires from the controller to hook up
1) to Ground
2) to battery thru a 20-30 amp circuit breaker
3) to cold side of brake light switch
4) to connector at rear of vehicle
hardest part is routing the wires
Right on! Thanks. I will have a friend with me that is pretty electronic savvy, so not too worried about the wiring. Just wasn't sure if there was some super-secret shortcut.
