I am in the market to buy speakers for my highboy. I am going with the 6 1/2" door speakers and don't think that will be enough sound. I don't want subs or amps or anything that thumps hard. I am facing the stock fuel tank behind the seat and the factory seat as well. I have seen custom consoles on here with speakers but, I don't want the consoles. Has anyone fit 5x8 or 6x9's under the seat? I have also seen the plastic headliners with them but I don't want to spend $300 on it and get junk speakers. Any suggestions would be great because I can't move forward on my project truck until I get speakers.
buy some higher end quality 6 1/2s and get some tweeters to put up in the dash and if you can get some crossovers. I had a set of inifiti speakers and tweeters and it sounded real nice.
Those stock doors act like a big box and really amplify the sound. and to help get some sound deadening like dynamat and do the inside of the doors and it will sound great.
I got a crew cab with mtx front speakers and fosgate speakers in the back and it sounds real nice!
Thanks for the reply! I'll get some higher end speakers like sony, pioneer, polk, or infinity for the doors. Are you talking about using the crossover to take out the bass for the tweets? I have been out of the stereo biz for awile but I use to buy these inline bass blocker things. They just spliced in the speaker wire going to the tweets.
