Not sure on an Excursion, but I've seen one on an OBS crew cab that had a nice camper shell and it looked really nice.

The look is a personal choice. There are a few X's floating on fte somewhere with them on.

If you do decide to mount one do not use the supplied self tap screws but instead opt for a rivnut type. You drill hole, rivet in a nut that has the threads in it that use use a threaded bolt in. The visor usually needs removing to replace the windshield and people usually seal the screws with silicone on there and when it comes off the paint usually comes with it, not cool. I have even seen them start rusting in those areas.
The rivnut you can seal separately and it has a 1/16" lip on it so the visor will never actually sit on the paint and the bolts go in and out of the rivnut nice and easy and clean.

they are hideous, in my opinion, on all trucks. More importantly, to me (and a million other people) they drastically lower the value of the truck because you now have lots of holes in the roof. Holes the penetrate factory galvanizing and WILL rust over time... holes that WILL eventually leak, in my experience. I would not buy a truck for a daily driver that had one of these on it. Plus beyond that I don't understand the point... they don't perform any function as far as I can tell.

I like the look of cab lights, (many trucks come with those from the factory and you don't hear a lot of drama regarding factory lights leaking) - at least I haven't.

That being said, if I saw one of these with lights on a truck vs. regular cab lights vs. none, I'd go with the real cab lights or none.

The thing that would bug me is sitting first in line at a light...some (especially in cities) are mounted high, and it would block my view of the light.

IMO, it breaks up the lines a little TOO much. Cab lights break up the lines but still keep the look aerodynamic...just my opinion.

Cab lights leak too. If yours don't yet, just give it time. Or they make be leaking already and it just goes down the sides of the foam headliner and down the A pillars. The factory ones are not too bad as they have foam gaskets and sealer applied to the mounting hardware. The aftermarket ones all leak given time.

If I was going to add one which I wouldn't, it would be one like this as the lines seem cleaner and doesn't have hardware showing

I like them. I have one in the garage all color match painted to go on my 78 Bronco when I get the time to do some more work on it. I will have to look for the rivnuts. I hate selftapping screws in the body so I was going to rivit in place with a ton of silicone. Wouldn't be a problem on my X as I already am fighting rust on the roof at the top of the windshield...

well tell u the truth. i have put my running boards back on BUT no i will get that prob down the road.

i am going to work the air intake. i have this front wierd body kit front for my bumper that has two ports for lights about 3inch big. i thinking about running something to both and hook it up over my airintake filter for more airflow. kinda like a custom air intake.

then save and work on the y pipe and headers to free up some horses and wieght. (cast iron is heavy) if i dont stomp on it as bad it should allow more air to pass through the tubes.
