I finally got me a '97 F-250 HD bought the other day. Its going to be my farm/ project truck. I dont plan on beating this one up. Anyways a lil about it, '97 F-250 HD 460,auto,4.10 gears, single cab, long bed.Was wanting a 5 speed but auto will work so my boys can use it on the farm. Truck right now has a couple problems but I think I got a decent deal on it. 1st problem it cranks awhile before starting, the longer it sits the longer it has to crank, any ideas? 2nd problem is it seems like there is some play on the steering shaft between the steering wheel and steering box, can I replace ujoints or will I need a whole new shaft? Also the tires are shot, and I plan on putting on a set of 16x10 wheels with 2" or 3" backspacing and some 33" or 35" tires, will get a flatbed with a bale spear, and I wanting to do some mods to the engine to make it pull my trailers better and basically be my dream truck, any ideas or opinions to steer me in the right way would be appreciated.
Ditto man^^,It's always fun gittin' a new truck.I think maybe the crankin' thing could be the fuel drainin' back to the tank. Can you hear the pump prime when you turn the key?Mite try priming it a couple times first, maybe that would help.I'm sure the other guys will be able to elaborate a bit more on that.Your play in the wheel mite be in the sector if it's not in the tierod ends or whatever.A truck w/a spear on it hmmm.sounds dangerous but most farm equipment is.Tell them kids to be careful and good luck.
