Well not really shimmy, as I always equate that to feedback into the steering wheel. But here is the deal
2000 X, 4x4, v10, 170k. Have the bumpies going down the road, especially at 70mph and up. Had attributed it to the tires.
This is what has been done since purchased.
Rancho 9000 set on 3
Energy susp bushings in front end.
New hubs both sides
Tightened steering box
New wheels and tires (transforce AT)
Ball joints
So when we first got it and through each stage of repairs/upgrades the bumpiness is still there. It acts like and feels like when tires are bad but new tires and rotating them haven't eliminated it.
Where do I go from here?
Like I said there is no feedback in the steering, no shimmy, just bumpy. Any ideas?
Forgot to add. Since the addition if 18x9 wheels and the transforce 275/70-18 the steering "sticks". So when I go around a corner the the truck will not straighten out on it's own (by letting go of the wheel) rather if I let go of the wheel it will stay going in the direction it was. Make sense?
its ether brakes or drive shaft ... take your pick .. i had the same issue and welll i needed brakes .. it went away for a while that was untill i had to do an emergency stop .. damn punk kids and there no signaling to come in to my lane then stooping ... next time im just going to drive right up on top of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg did i just say that **** IM GETTING OLD ( turning 30 this year )
grease the slide pins on the breaks .. that is if this truck has them .. i know my focus had that issue .. turns out the brakes were sticking and the buggers were going back and forth ALOT lol wobble wobble wobble !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are the tires inflated to? The sticky steering can be because of the steering box being tightened to much.
Tires at 60psi.
I feel like the steering box is OK but I'll play with it a little. I had adjusted the steering box prior to the addition of these tires/wheels and it was great. No issues, but maybe the new tires are tracking better? Making the steering input more precise and now I am able to get better feedback? I don't know, but I'll give it a shot
You have E rated tires on that tank? Pump them up to at least 70 and try that out. I have the transforce as well and noticed they are quite "squishy" when not inflated to or near max psi which can make the steering stick and get a "bad shock feeling" in the suspension.

I'll do that tonight, may not get to caliper pins today.
Thanks for all the responses.
