I am replacing my heater core - it looks like a fairly easy job. The only problem is I can't get the temp control cable off the core cover. I searched for an answer and found very little.
I know the plastic clip holding the cable is attached to the cover with two tabs on the back. A couple of FTE members said to use a small screwdriver - I tried and couldn't get it off.
Any tips or tricks you guys have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Reason: info
I googled this about a year ago because I was having heat loss. My blend door was not sealing due to my cable being out of adjustment and came up with an article about the cable adjustment. Directly behind the glove-box (removed) on corner of plenum is where i think you are at. If so, there's a clip that holds the cable tight. You can release that clip and remove the cable through it. I got my article from AllData, but I'm sure there are more resources. I'd take a picture of mine except it's -30 out. Sorry.
I think he knows what he needs to unclip but he is having trouble unclipping it. I unfortunately cannot help cause i don't know what clips you mean. I have a 78 so i think it is a different setup
From what i remember, you just open it enough to slide the ribbed end out through the clamp. Then the wire loop for door hookup should fit right through too. The clamp doesnt "click" open i dont think.
