Although my 49ers didn't make it to the Superbowl, atleast they got beat by a good team! I must though, I'm disappointed by the Niners sportmanship!

On a different note, we got 4-6" of snow! WOOHOO!!!!

 

LOL!...Mr. Olfthfl - Jimmy, has his own Ford (for now). I've been trying to get him to join FTE, but I guess he's just not into all this internet club stuff like we are. I'll bring him though.

I hope your Tuesday is good! It's gotta be better than yesterday, that's for sure! I guess we'll see.

Well, yesterday my laptop took a **** & pretty much locked up! I can turn it on & when it gets to the windows desktop with the icons, "My Clean PC" screen pops up & I can't do anything after that! It takes over my computer. I can't close it & it won't let me do anything else. I either run the program & purchase it or I have to hard boot my computer to shut it down. I can't even reset my computer. GRR!!!! So, for now I'm back to using the old dinosuar & hope that this one holds up. It's even running super slow now. I wonder if you can get a virus in the actual "Verizon internet stick?" I just don't know what to think anymore. Jimmy tried everything he could think of to get it the laptop to work, but he gave up & I think we're just going to take it back to the repair shop to have our important stuff saved to disk & trash the laptop! We'll just have to wait until tax time & buy a brand new one then.
I can't believe the luck I've had with this fricken laptop!!! Anyway, if this dinosaur goes down too, I'll be back to square one again & I'll have someone step in to run the NV board until I can get things squared away.
I already called Bruce lastnight to give him a heads up on things.
Ok, that's it for now. Hopefully this will post & I'll be able to continue to get online. TTYL,,,

 

I know there are varying beliefs on the subject I am about to step into and some will strongly disagree. I've seen quite a few PC/Mac wars get ugly, but I feel compelled... I'll keep it simple. Ya know, I had so many problems with my old PC, as well as the one at work that I finally broke down and bought a Mac. My frustration level has greatly diminished since that day. The hard part was the initial purchase as Macs are a bit spendy, but I don't regret biting the bullet and reluctantly coughing up the dough that day. I loved my Mac so much that I bought a Macbook (wish I would have spent just a little more for the Pro version). They're both working great to this day. No more anger issues, except for the cruddy satellite internet company, but that aint Mac's fault.
Just my personal experience and opinion.

this worked for me. I had this similar problem and when laptop was taken over it said I had to purchase a fix (scam)
Upon startup I hit f8 and then system restore and viola it was fine.
Have you tried that? If it works for you then simply send a check,,lol Good Luck D

 

Hello Calif. (Northern). Trying to visit each state (guess I'll do y'all twice since they split you in two parts). Have a favor request, kinda a long story so bear with me if you will. I have a buddy that collects license plates. He's an auto transporter & used to haul used cars to & from auctions, so he built up a pretty good collection over the years. Now here comes the favor part (after a little more background). He has a neighbor (autistic/special needs boy) that likes license plates, so last year my buddy decided to try to get him his own collection. The list at the bottom is what he's still missing. ANY & ALL plates are welcome, the boy just likes to get them. If you can help, please P.M. me for his address. Thanks in advance!!!

He only has 2 Canadian plates at this point (NS and QC) so they would be greatly appreciated from our Canadian friends too, or the members from overseas even!

 

Tim, I'm not so sure it's a PC thing as actually a Windows thing...I think the Mac O/S is probably a better system than buggy, space-hogging Windows.

My mom just got her first laptop. It's an older Lenovo Thinkpad, given to her by a good friend of mine who works IT for a bank. They simply throw away older laptops when they start to have problems, so he scored a couple of them in recent months. He brought this one home, wiped the HD and installed Ubuntu, which he runs on his own laptop. It's much more streamlined than Windows, very intuitive to operate and there are plenty of programs available for it, all free (as is Ubuntu as it's open-source software) and so far, she's really liking it. My buddy said that it made his own older laptop really fast. I'm even thinking of dumping the old Win XP that's on my own laptop and putting Ubuntu on it.

Donna, that might even be the salvation for your laptop.
