Ditto on this. You're 110% dead on accurate. As for the 69 Windsor being some how different in it's camshaft retainer plate, I seriously doubt that. Any camshaft and retainer for any 289/302/351W will fit anyother 289/302/351W. They're all the same in that regard.

Welcome to FTE

The answer is no. While the Versailles is basically a Granada/Monarch, some mechanical parts are different. Transmissions were C-6's. Granada/Monarchs used C-4's or FMX's (FMX used on 1975/77 351W engines only). Rear axles were Ford 9 inchers. Granada/Monarchs were Ford 8 inchers. A special crankshaft was used on 1977 models. Ford was trying badge engineering with a twist, but the car never sold well, in fact..it barely sold at all. The problem: It was far more expensive, but looked just like its twin brothers, except for the Continental Mark style decklid.

Another problem: Both Monarchs and Versailles sat side by side in the same Lincoln-Mercury showrooms. The outward appearance was miniscule. Ppl cared less about the special added attractions.

Excepting the C6 transmission, the crankshaft, the decklid and the 9 inch rear axle, the same features (including rear discs) could be had for thousands of $$$ less on Granada/Monarchs.

The 7E2 is the date code. It indicates that the cylinder block was cast on 7th May, 1977.
