I put a new waterpump on yesterday and now my ex doesn't start up immediately. It cranks for 3-4 seconds now. It use to fire up as soon as you hit the key.
Is the coolant temp sensor connector fully seated. If not the PCM may be using a defaut for coolant temp and not adjusting for the true temp. Just a thought. Check any connector you may have disconnected.
I changed the water pump on my f450 Friday too. I noticed when I pulled one of the passenger side bottom bolts out of the pump, it was coated with oil and I heard a gurgling noise, did you notice the same thing? After I started the truck back up and idled it for a bit and romped on it it seemed like it was starving for oil, does that bolt drain the HPOP reservoir some how?
I didn't use a torque wrench on the bolts when i reinstalled, I just ran them in with the air ratchet and once they were all in I used it to tighten them all. ( it was rated for 55 ft lbs of torque.) I did check them all manually to make sure they where tight afterwards.
It ran just fine today when I drove it, it seemed like it was down on power till after I had ran it for 10 miles or so. I figured it was air in the oil rails. Am i totally off on that?
