Had leaky gas tank since I bought. It gotten bad cause mileage from summer 16-18 sudden drop to 14 mpg
What cause me want fix now. 300 miles today I cruise 55-60 mph with my foot to keep boost stay 1-2 psi. If this was in summer I would got 22 mpg easier. I got 21 mpg ONCE that when tank wasn't leak badly.
It leak on driver side of tank near front spring leaf mount. I drop tank 2 months ago and couldn't see leak it was so tiny. Tried loose plastic fitting on sender it was stuck so bad. It show Preview owner been work on before since bolts were on strap were striped and rusted.
I replaced fuel nozzle and hoping it was issue but didn't.
It seem it leak itself when tank are full and park on inline. It wasn't leak fast just wet surface.
what are the steps to remove the tank and how hard is it doing so>?
I would drive until tank is very close to E that light come on then 1 bolt on 1 strap remove. But most time it rusted badly that you need impact wrench or grinder.
It only 2 bolts hold 2 straps. Removal part are EASIER and Install part are HARD. You had tough time get bolt in strap up to crossmember and try get thread in bolt and use jack to raise tank up.
2 bolts I am talk about is on tank's passenger side and look at crossmember.
When you reinstall Please use tons of antisezire grease on that 2 bolts so it would be easier to remove later instead battle with broke bolts or rusted badly.
does yours have a skid plate looking thing over the tank, thats what mine has
I don't have that on mine but I had one on former 95 F250 that was no fun. Couldn't change front tank since skidplate were rusted. Can't use torch and grinder because gas tank were leak.
To be sure of what we're talking about here, your F350 is a dually cab-n-chassis, isn't it? The one that has a steel tank between the frame rails in the rear, mounted a bit like the Excursion? Not a standard pickup truck with a bed?

Pop
SRW reg cab. It black poly or plastic tank I think 38 gallons.
I will try get picture of that but last night with alot rain make wet stain Grow HUGE it size of monitor with 22"
Yes, there's a 5/16" line TO the tank that comes FROM the output of the fuel pressure regulator that's on the side of the fuel filter bowl up on the front of the engine.
The delivery from the tank is SUCKED out of the tank via a 3/8" line that goes to the fuel pump (mounted on the frame rail beneath the driver's seat). The input to the fuel pump is "necked down" to 5/16", but (for the most part) it's a 3/8" line.
There are a couple of vents, one of which goes up into the filler neck, and I believe the other is vented to atmosphere.
Here's a couple of photos. The vent back to the filler neck is visible on the extreme left of the bottom one, and the over-all photo (top one) shows the smaller vent line at the top of the rear cavity. I'm not sure where that hose terminates.
You said it leaks when the tank is full and you are parking on an incline. Is that incline "up" or "down"? I'd guess it's only when the front wheels are higher than the rear, and the leak is from that rear vent tube (the one I don't know where it goes). Maybe it's "normal" to leak under those conditions.
Maybe you need to replace that rear vent line, and bring the other end up much higher than it is now, depending on the angle it gets parked.
I tried remember but I knew when tank were FULL and back up on driveway. Front end go down and rear end up. It was actually drip slow when I notice tank cover in drip.
I have a similar leak that seems to come from the rear vent when I park nose up with a full tank. From what I have read this vent can't be replaced. I will be interested in how you fix yours.

I don't believe that but I know they want $500 for da#n vent sensor which is plastic piece valve with ball for gasser. I found in junkyard $1 each.
If it not replaceable and I would get new hose and reroute to higher like 1 foot up and put vent cap so water won't get inside.
I keep hear mod where you change vent something that let you put 5 more gallons in tank.
