Any pros/cons to either way? Seems like venting out would be better for your truck in case of filter failure but not sure if the intake needs that additional air for some reason unknown to me.
Just vent to atmosphere. Send it back down the truck as far as possible. That's how my 6.0 was done for 4 years. No problems. The Cummins I drive now just dumps straight down.

If you put a catch can on your ccv reroute you would see how much is coming out. Has to go somewhere and you will see a buildup of oil on your cac boots.
