Fuel injector leak

Absolutely! It can leak where the colored housing (mine are orange) meets the main body. I've had it happen on two injectors. I would smell gas when I stopped, but had trouble finding the leaks. The gas would bubble out at the described location and evaporate away while driving.
You can get them tested and cleaned. I've used these guys a few times over the years and have been very pleased.

I ended up buying a set of balanced and blueprinted injectors from them for my 85 F150. It was less than half the price of the Zone and others at the time.
