Hey everyone! I have a 2011 f350 and today I noticed that while going around long corners my steering column ticks. Anyone else had this. Not even 10000 miles
I can't say mine has a tick more of a clunking sound when going around tighter corners/turns. Noticed it when pulling a 14k 5th wheel at first but now it's doing it more frequently. Sounds like it's on the driver's side however this morning heard it from both sides. Truck has about 8k miles on it. Anyone else have something similar?
Figured I'll wait until the next oil change to have them check it out.
For what it's worth, one of my old trucks ('98 150 I believe) did the same thing and it was a bad ball joint. If I jacked it up I could pull on the top of the drivers side tire while pushing on the bottom and it would move that way about 1" and if let go returned to normal. Going down the road it was a clunking coming from the drivers side, replaced the balljoint and the issue was gone.

Reason: typo

Common issue on F-150's. The ball joints wear out at 100k or so. Just had mine done on a 2001. Having said that, it would be odd that it wore out so fast. Maybe just something loose as opposed to worn out. Only advice is to get it on a lift and start shaking parts.
I had a similar issue with a 2010 F-250. The steering wheel would clunk when making a sharp turn. The wheel also felt slightly loose and wobbly. This happened between 10,000 and 15,000 miles. The steering wheel was replaced under warranty, and it fixed the problem.
