2012 6.7 transmission shift programming

Hello,I was wondering if any could help with a trans question.I just bought a f250 with the 6.7 ,6 speed auto.I was wondering if there was any way to program the trans so when you come almost to a stop the trans doesn't go all the way down to 1st gear.I find when that happens the motor rpm's have to rev up to catch up with the trans being in 1st.If it were only to go down to 2nd
gear that would be perfect.I can understand if you were starting from a dead stop you would want to start in 1st especially towing, but this motor has so much power that when your not towing I would be happy if 1st didn't exist.
Thanks for any help
John

You can use manual shift mode or go through the trouble to lock out first gear each time you start the truck using the +/- button.

And for future reference, you don't have to make a lot of noise in this forum to get some attention. Hopefully a moderator will consolidate your 3 topic threads. Everyone here will be happy to help you even if your question refers to how to best clean your windshield. Search for it if you don't believe me.........

I just think you will get used to it. At first it takes a while to get a feel for the engine. Also, the TCM is learning your driving style so it should even out some as you drive it.

No worries, I'm not shooting a shot across the bow. Just want you to know this is a great forum. Sometimes folks get stressed out and go nuts with posting hoping to be the loudest voice and then hoping to get fast replies. I know it happens on other forums so I just wanted you to feel welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't think you will find a permanent and convenient solution to your issue. I hope somebody here has the magic solution though.

In auto [D] mode, you can only lock out higher gears, 6,5,4,3,2.
Can't lock out 1st gear.
However as ruschejj said, if you're using [M] mode and you allow the transmission to downshift on it's own, it will stop down shifting at 2nd gear.

I'm also assuming they've not changed the programming from the 2011 models.
