Arrow Looking for more answer please.

An 02 7.3 at 180,000 miles. The truck does not high idle when 1st starting like it used to, could this be due to the bad injectors? I do get a code from my super chip reading ICP. 2nd question back to my previous post from yesterday. Is the crousin from the heating element, that I found in my fuel bowl? If so whats an easy way to test the element?

The engine might high idle when the EBPV is actuated during cold weather and cold engine but the parking brake has to be set (for the fast idle part)...at least that is how it works on my truck.

The junk in your fuel bowl could be from the element if it is corroded. No harm will be done if you just remove that heater. It is practically worthless and has been the cause of many stranded trucks on the side of the road. Don't forget to disconnect the plug on the outside of the bowl as well. just make sure you change your fuel filter every 15k or so since your water in fuel light will not function with the plug disconnected.

Fast idle is controlled by the intake air temp sensor. Have you replaced the factory air filter box with an aftermarket one? Many delete the air sensor from the new intakes and that will keep it from the high idle. If you did remove it, just plug it back in and use a tie-wrap to retain it to the fender liner.

Yes I put an K&N filter in when I bought the truck new in january of 02 and it has worked all these years except for this last year on and off but never like it used to. And I've never unpluged the sensor in which theres a place for it in the air box I installed. Could this mean that the sensor is bad?

Not sure exactaly what the EBPV is? but never had to have the parking brake in before. Thanks for the info on the heating element did not know it was usless. If its usless why is it in there? Is it for the cold weather purpose to preheat fuel??

I too have an '02 and the parking brake has never had to be pushed down for engine to go to high idle given the right conditions.

Read this thread and watch the video on the EBPV. I never use my parking brake at all and every thing works fine for a fast idle.

The heating element is for fuel gelling in the great white north in sub sub freezing and rarely used or needed. Use a fuel aditive and unplug the element, because if it shorts out is will/may blow (I think) fuse #30 and you will be dead in the water until you replace the fuse. Cover the plug wire ending so you don't get crud and junk all in it. Make sure that your GPR and Glow plugs are working and all will be good in the cold with out the bowl heating element.

My air intake sensor was bad and caused the problem you have. Do you have a tuner or scanner? I used my Diablosport Predator tuner to look at the air temp sensor value and determined it was bad.

I would verify it's bad before you spend any money though.
