Hey guys I am brand new to this forum!! I have been wanting to buy an excursion for some time now and finally pulled the trigger on a beautiful 2000 V10 Limited Black beauty a couple of months ago. I have o say that I have been very pleased with my purchase and the truck is everything that I thought it would be. Then a couple of issues started to pop up.
1. I seem to be having some electrical issues with the truck as the dome lights in the entire truck will not turn on and the front door lights on both sides remain on regardless of what I do. The interesting part of all of this is when I shut the car off the trip computer on the ceiling will continue to stay on along with the door lights and I can even turn on the rear air with the key out of the ignition. Another interesting thing is that when I am driving sometimes, I will find that the lights will go off but then the trip computer goes off as well and the cruise control, turn signals, and rear air will not work until I move the dimmer switch to get the lights to come back on.
2. After reading alot on here, this might seem like a simple fix, but I just want to confirm with you guys. My speedometer likes to jump around above 20 mph & the o/d light has been flashing. The truck runs and drives great and the trans shifts smooth. Could this be the VSS problem that other people have experienced?
Thank guys guys for your help on this and I look forward to joining this great community.
I'm going to take a wild guess here...check the wiring for the OD button in the steering column. The gear shift is known to rub through the insulation creating all sorts of electrical gremlins.
