If anyone is building custom gauges and selling them id like to buy one.
Are you asking if there is a particular company that is mass producing gauge bezels for 67 to 72 f100's? I am not sure; but I would think the f600 bezel with new gauges in it would be the cheapest and easiest approach.
I can make them but the price could get pretty high. Good gauges alone are going to run you $300 to $500 or more depending on the options you choose. Then you have to get a bezel; used or new. For me it was very time consuming to cut the steel to fit just right. Then I had to cut the holes out; without using the plasma cutter! Too much heat. Then I made a wiring harness that consists of two 12 pin plugs so it was easily removed when needed. That took the most time.
how do you like the leds, I put some small leds in mine and they blind me at night they are so bright. I have though about adding a resistor in line to cut the voltage but I don't drive the truck that much and have not done it yet.
They are very time consuming to build singlely but if you have a pattern then you can have a fab shop with a water jet cut a bunch of blanks then just wiring to a connector is the time consuming part. I have though about having a bunch of blanks made and selling those to people with there gauge pattern But there is a company out there already selling them but cannot remember the name.
nice looking gage setup. just when i thought i had most of my mods done you guys are giving me more ideas. really like the look and easy to read gages. I see only 1 amstel figured it would take a few more to do this job. excellent work and impressed with the look. thanks for my next project to fit into my head. keepin old iron alive one ford at a time.

I love the LED's but you are right; they are bright. It doesn't bother me that much though. Next time I might go down a size. I do not think LED's are dimmable by reducing voltage. Normally they require a certain voltage to either be on or off. Once you drop the voltage to the lower limit it just turns off. I might be wrong so if you try it and it works; let me know please.

The Amstel was to deal with my mother in law who was visiting at the time. It took more than one!
He's right, you cant dim an LED by adding resistance to the circuit, they require very low current to illuminate so almost any voltage at all will turn them on and by simply opening the circuit to ground, turn them off. thats why most of the higher-end cars today are using LED's for tail-lights and around the headlight. LMC actually carries an LED tail-light conversion kit for our trucks, ive been looking into it myself
I'm going to try it this weekend I have a few balist resitors laying around and a couple extra led from the dash, they light up the entire cab and are just one led. The leds I installed in my house are dimable with just a varable resistor wall switch but they are a little more high tech too
Love the dash like that, that old dash is a little too retro for me. I think a piece of light gauge aluminum and a pair of tin snips will get close. I would take one of those blanks, but i dont know what size gauges i would use or anything yet, but my truck is going to be all black on the interior, i think, blacken that steel out (like you have done) and then the gauges that are smoked over and you can only see when they are on would look super sharp!
