The wife was using our 12V air compressor to air the tires up on my F350 and had it plug into the power point and from what she said was it quit working as if it blew the fuse but she said she ck'd all the fuses and they were all good. She pluged it into the cig point and the air compressor works just fine. Now telling the wife what to ck is like getting grape juice from one grape. I'm not there to look at it but does anybody know what fuse # is for the power point and does it control anything else and is it in the fuse block under the dash or inside the eng bay. She says everything else is working fine but I dont believe that either. Any help is appreciated.
Huh? on right hand side, if counting from bottom(grille) to top(firewall).
Im having a hard time picturing what you mean?
They are both under the dash right?
doh....the P/P fuse is located under the hood. #10fuse location, 25amp, which is the small fuse. Theres 2-rows of small fuses, its located on the r/h row, 2nd from the top..(toward the firewall). I described it that way for lamens terms, but didnt sound right..lol.

Thanks Timmyboy, I'm thinking this "Theres 2-rows of small fuses, its located on the r/h row, 2nd from the top..(toward the firewall)" is for the cigar lighter?

cigarrette lighter is located under the dash, trust me, just replaced mine, chasing a blown fuse for it and for the trialer run'n lights, which that one, is located under the hood....also, when you posted this thread last night, i went out to the truck and got the "bible" out..lol
Many of those 12v air compressors have a thermal breaker inside that will shut off the pump when it gets too hot. Maybe that is what happened?
Eventually it will cool off and begin working again.

Just a thought...
It worked just fine when she plugged it into the cig lighter. I have a air compressor in the garage and all she had to due was flip the switch to trun it on and air up but she said it was to complicated to work. Like getting grape juice from a grape.

I have an owners manual in the truck but she thinks its to hard to read. Trust me, if I wasnt over here in the sand box she wouldnt be driving my truck and I would have already fixed it. I will download the owners manual and find it for her. Thanks Robin
Check the inside of the power point for melted plastic.
I recently replaced my 12v power point with a $2 power point with a metal housing and ceramic insulator on the metal connectors. The old one melted until the center contact couldn't be reached... because a 12V inflater was left running too long trying to air up load range D tires for towing. The new one looks stock, and sits flush enough that the little sliding door still closes over the power point when it's not in use.
It was an easy fix... Pulled the stereo and part of the dash, gutted the old one, used a Dremel tool with a sanding drum to open up the plastic retaining ring just enough for the new metal power point plug to barely fit, cut off the old plug and replaced with blade style terminals to match the new outlet.... and reinstalled the dash. Haven't had a problem since.
I also no longer connect inflators to the dash for anything bigger than a bicycle. Invest in a unit that clips directly to the battery terminal.
Slime makes an excellent kit that is relatively affordable, available at most major hardware stores and parts houses... and actually has enough hose to reach all the way around a super duty. I was even able to air up my 32ft enclosed car hauler with tandem axles... by using my jumper cables as an extension cord while I was at a rest area.
Another common mod. is to add a set of power points inside the center console with it's own fuse, and always on-power for charging cell phones and media players. Keeps cables tidy, and you can keep valuables out of sight while they keep charging. (Leaving cords strewn across the cab is a great way to invite someone to steal your new GPS or Iphone.)
Edit: Truck is in the body shop, or I'd get pics. Feel free to PM and remind me. Don't have a part number for the plug either - but it was dirt cheap. It's not exactly a high tech item.

Is she 100% sure that it stopped working? She may have lost a good contact while it was plugged in. plugging into the cig port may have given her a better contact.

I asked her that multiple times and she said yes so i'm only as good as the information she gives me.
I downloaded the 2002 owners manual and it has the fuse for the "Power Point Instrumation Pnl" under the dash #4 fuse 20A and not in the eng bay drivers side wheel well fuse bolck like said above in an earlier post. It didnt even have the fuse block in the eng bay in the owners manual maybe have to look in the 7.3 owners manual. Either way I will have her ck both places again to make sure. Maybe Ford changed it between model yrs.
