Alternator ?

I have a 2000 f-250 with 7.3 diesel that the alternator is not putting out any voltage. Is there anything else to check such as fuses for the charging system before I yank out the alternator?

Find the large black/orange wire on back of the alternator. Get a meter and make sure it has battery voltage on this terminal on the alternator(engine off). If it doesn't, there are some fusible links in this wire.

Look in the underhood fuse box for fuse #6, 10amp. This fuses the regulator inside the alternator.

Look in the fuse box under the dash. Fuse #29, 5amp goes to the ignition trigger circuit for the alternator/regulator.

If you decide to take the alternator out, make sure you disconnect both batteries. It's common for those fusible links to get burnt out by working on the alternator with the batteries connnected.
