boost question
when reading psi at the map sensor with a scan tool what should it say? mine is reading 14 psi at idle, rev it up and goes to around 20. im thinking it is high just sitting in drive. cleaned turbo but the housing was a bad shape as in pits. it will show 31 psi flooring down the road. does this sound right? it is an 03 also with 227k.

MAP is Manifold Absolute Pressure, not gauge pressure. With the engine off, it should be reading around 14.7 (at sea level). That 14.7 is the weight of the air above you in PSI. Boost is MAP minus Barometer.
Take a MAP reading with the engine off. This is essentially same as the Barometer reading. Then subtract that value from any MAP reading you want to get Boost.

Predict? No. However the IAT sensor will give you a fairly decent reading of outside air temperature when the engine is running. It might be a little high because the intake will pull some air off of the engine.
The barometer reading will come from the barometer sensor, of course.
