Some of you know I just rebuilt my 351W. I ordered Sanderson rear dump block hugger headers. Month and a half later they arrive, only to find the pass. side header hits frame boxing plate even b4 tightening the bolts. Sent them back to San Fransisco to be "adjusted". I got them back last nite after about 3 weeks. They sent me a different set, not the ones I sent them. These are "street rod" style headers. They do actually fit with no issues, tho I prefererred the others. These are almost a center dump. I should have the thing running Saturday if the bride will let me work Christmas eve. Hats off to Sanderson. They were not going to charge me anything to re work my original pipes and ultimately I paid nothing.
I bought a set of long tubes from them for my Darkside project and had an issue with interference with my steering. They paid the return freight, sent me a set of block huggers, and gave me a credit for the difference right away. I'm very impressed with their service and customer support. here's to a quality vendor.
check with Sanderson on starting (breakin) of a new engine with their headers... on my ceramic headers it states very emphatically... DO NOT use these headers when breaking in an engine.... engine head and odd fuel/air mixes in a new engine can damage the coating and discolor the headers.
They recommend breakin with original manifolds and then add the headers after the engine has had a decent run-in... FYI you might want to check with the Sanderson folks
thread content... I had some interference issues with my block huggers and the original Volare ifs... Sanderson worked with me and found a combo set L/R that would fit... no freight charges, no crap about swapping. A first rate company imo
Hate to be the odd-man but Sanderson jerked me around on Cleveland headers until I gave up, They neglected to mention that the headers could only work if I modified the motor mounts. Didn't tell me that up front only after I had paid for them and then they just refused my phone calls and gave me 1/2 of my money back after 2 months of waiting. I just build my own now.
