2003 f350 6.0. Only mod is coolant filter. Here is what is going on: feels like a miss at idle (not all the time, sometimes rougher then others), rpm not fluctuating. Can feel it some times while crusing down the road (all speeds). Taking off from a stop will get black/grey smoke until it shifts up, also small amount if I get on it. No engine codes showing up when scanned. I am running fresh syn oil, new filters all around (ford filters). I am thinking possible ebp sensor. Any suggestions?
Dont have a way to check it. A fuel pressure gauge is next on my list of mods. This issue has been going on for a year or so. It is just recently getting to the point where I am going to get it resolved. I did a search and came up with the ebp sensor as a probable cause but it could be something else aswell.
your 2003 more than likely doesnt use EBP it uses MAP
At KOEO check BARO,MAP, and EBP if you get it
what about the EGR valve do you still have one have you cleaned it???
How do you check the BARO, MAP, and EBP.
The egr valve is still in. I cleaned it about 4 months ago. It is the updated one with the pink dot. Everything there looked good. Just normal carbon build up. Nothing wet or stuck open.
Update - resolution: I took the truck in to have it looked at by the dealer. Had two injectors going out. Had them replaced and it is back to normal. Smoke is gone on acceleration, miss/stumble is gone. MPG is back up and all my power is back. Wanted to post so those who see these symptoms will have something to look at.
thanks for posting the outcome Glad you got it fixed
also didnt relize we live somewhat close
We do live somewhat close. There are a couple of people on here from UT. FYI - I took the truck to henry day ford in west valley. I know a couple of the techs there. They do a great job.
