Auto hub lock?

Just bought a 01 250. It has Warn hubs on it and the vacuum lines near the wheels are capped. Can I reattach them? Is the auto locking hub part of the actual hubs or something else? My manuals in the mail so I don't have a break down.

I ask because I have to switch from 4wd to 2wd often due to the area I live in and don't want to jump out of the cab every other minute.

Thanks!

If you have the warns your out of luck and will need the stock hubs to have esof (electronic shift on the fly). Id be willing to trade.

You'll need to buy factory hubs and re-install

Or you could leave front hubs locked in

Personally I'd keep the Warns (regular or premium). They are far superior to the OEM locking hubs. I'm on my 3rd ESOF issue and am about to cap the lines and go Warn Premium.

The OEM hubs are going to run you about $350 a piece unless you can find a deal or discount somewhere. Even then, it's been so long since your ESOF was used that you could easily have a vacuum leak. This could be in the lines, the solenoid, the knuckles or any one of the 3 seals or so on each front axle/hub/knuckle assembly. These seals are not too expensive, but unless you plan to spend the weekend on this yourself, the labor bill is not going to make you very happy.

There's plenty of threads with how-tos as well as plenty expressing their "thoughts" on the vacuum locking system.

I would enjoy your Warns and appreciate the fact that they work every time you turn the ****.

Just my .02

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Haven't pulled the wheels yet to inspect everything yet but it all seems to be in working order as far as the 4wd goes. Can't wait to play in the snow. The dealer put some nice tires on it and shined it up good. Really happy with it so far. I looked and I have the standard hubs. I need to add some accessories such as tow mirrors and rubber (not diamond plate aluminum) mud flaps. Got the floor liners today(wade by westin, real nice.). Wish someone made auto hubs that were worth a darn. I've owned several mini trucks and even an old K5 blazer, but this truck rocks!

Have some other issues, but I'll keep this on topic.

Thanks guys
