I have a 2000 F350 Crew Cab with a V10, it has 156,000 miles on it. This has been a great truck, yesterday the transmission started shuttering between 40-50mph. It seems to do it most when you just maintaining speeed between 40-50 ,and if you accelerate it will go away. I had my mechanic run it for codes and it came back with a P1711 code. After looking into that it comes back as a Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor? Anyone have any experience with this issue?
At the recommendation of my mechanic friend I added a shot of Dr. Tranny into it, it seems to have helped a little....but will still shutter occasionaly.
I had the transmission flushed about 40,000 miles ago.
Can this sensor just be replaced or is it part of a large piece in the tranny? Would it be possible that a new transmission flush would take care of the issue?
Thanks in advance for any experiences and advise.
if i remember right the service int. is 30,000 so it wouldn't hurt to change the fluid and filter anyway. as for the sensor, wait for the smart people to chime in.

Reason: typo
The temp sensor is part of the solenoid body. That code doesn't mean the sensor is bad, it means the trans was either too hot or too cold when the codes were read.
Most likely you problem is an ignition coil or spark plug.
The ignition coil was the first thing I thought of, but when the mechanic ran the codes there were no misfires in the log. Should the truck be running during this test?
I live up here in northern Maine and the temperature has fallen recently to near single digits, and this is when the problems started. What is the likely solution to this if not an iginition issue? I want to get this fixed, ut do not want to replace parts if they are not going to solve the problem.
Thanks
