I know that this happened to me on both my 06s and my dads 06 and it was the harness connected to the sensor on top of the rear differential. There is/was a TSB for it. Not sure if it applies to 03s or not. Disconnecting batts or clearing code with a scanner would "fix" it for awhile. See link for troubleshooting if this applies to your issue: 06-7-6***ABS LIGHT ON AND POSSIBLE DTCS C1175, C1236, P0500, P0503
my abs light is on and i cant see any codes?
it stays light all the time. it just came on one day and never went off.
any ideas?
I had a similar problem with my 07. One day the ABS light just came on for no apparent reason. I took it to the local ford dealer and they could not find anything wrong and there were no associated codes with it. To make matters worse, when they put it on the computer, the problem was not there. This went on for 4 months. I would intermittently get the ABS LIght to come on. Ford finally pulled a code off the truck, which said that there was a communication error from a speed sensor. They checked everything from wiring to wheel/differential sensors and everything checked out serviceable. They changed out the instrument cluster, which seemed to be the problem. A week later the same problem was back. They chased more wiring and could not find any problem. I finally talked them into changing the ABS module and, that solved the problem. They were sure that, that was not the problem, as it checked out serviceable in the diagnostic. Since they changed the ABS Module, I have not had a problem. Hope this helps.
