Im sure this is common knowledge around these parts BUT when you pop your interior light fuse your E40OD tranny will flip the hell out and act all weird, hard shifts, OD OFF light blinks at you. This happened to me. I had the door open for about 45 mins while I was replacing the door pin bushings, my fuse popped and interior lights went out, left my shop headed home and tranny was bugging out, replaced the 15 amp fuse and it was instantly fixed................Damn Fords.
Actually I believe they did that so would look at it help prevent operating it with no tail lights. Would find the tail light fuse (#8) was blown and correct the problem, in search questioning why won't shift right.
Fuse #13 same reasoning apply, no brake lights prevents lever from being moved from the park position, need investigate problem help prevent operation without any brake lights.
Assumption on my part yea but does make sense they might do such a thing.
nope,no tail lights on this one.
i see it as fuse #8
dome light(it's the under hood light and the one up behind the cab too)/electric mirrors/radio clock memory/speedometer memory/warning buzzer.
appears as if it was the cheap and easy thing to do only.
i guess though, how often does this fuse blow? not exactly a major issue, but it wasn't the wisest of decisions either.just cheap.
your pretty much broken down should this fuse blow, due to a shorted out wire someplace to a cargo lamp lol.

Rear lighting lost be it stop or tail lights either one triggers other more pressing issues immediately needing attention, driver couldn't help notice them.
Driver might not know the tail or brake lights are out. If it doesn't shift (tail lights) have a tendency to check it out right away finding the problem.
Can't take the lever out of park (brake lights) have a tendency to check it out right away finding the problem.
Blown fuse on either one of them circuits won't go unnoticed leaving operator with no rear lighting. Effects something important, something anyone would look into or have looked into right away.
Was it done intentionally? have to ask the electrical engineer designed the system to know for sure but I kinda think it just might have been intentional.

I learned that one the hard way with a borrowed van. Ran fine, parked it, ran into a store, came out and it started fine but wouldn't shift out of park. After 30 minutes of checking it high and low I found that the brake light fuse was blown, replaced it and it shifted fine.
