What is a Snow Plow Worth?

This is coming up at a local auction next week. I have no Idea of the value of a plow. Anyone?

72 Ford with a Fisher plow. Depending on truck mechanicals and how it runs and drives and condition of plow I would give it around 2500.00 for setup.

The plow itself can run up to 6500.00 that plow new is probably well under 4k
A decent mechanical truck in a 4x4 is 1500.00 and up the plow a grand or so.
Hard to give exact value without seeing it or knowing more. Of course this time of year everyone gotta have one in snow country.

Truck below a super nice straight and solid 92 with a brand new Lightning long block, all mechanicals gone thru, locker rear and 800.00 in tires along with a 6500.00 plow and my best offer was 4k. All depends on area

I concur, if the mechanicals are sound that rig's potentially a 2-2.5K setup.

Wow things must be way different west of here in IN. We throw Fisher plow setups away. First choice is Western with the second being Meyers & that's only if the Meyers was on the truck when bought. Price does go up if it is snowing though. Depends on many other factors but I see maybe a $1200 truck with the plow. Without the plow $1200.

Bet it wouldn't bring $1200.00 here in NC. Might get to use the plow once every 3-5 years.

John
I took into account it is December & 4WD trucks do bring more in the winter here but the plow is worth nothing. In fact normally people shy away from plow trucks as they have been abused. Horns bent, front end worn out, driveline wore out, trans issues. I know I only bought 1 and the plow unit was welded on to it. A '83 Dodge 3/4 tn Snow Commander that was a total (multiple damage/rust all over but no wreck) that didn't run and needed a trans. I did a complete body swap also swapping in a used trans. Don't remember what it took to get it running but wasn't much. Bought a set of 16's & still had less than $1200 in it if you didn't count the 40 hrs labor I had into it. It had an 8' blade on a Meyers unit (that needed fixed, doesn't every Myers unit need fixed?). I managed to swap out the 8' blade for an 8 1/2'.

As long as I am at it I will finish the story. Now mind you almost the entire body was trashed when I bought it. It got hit sitting in the parking lot at work TWICE! I swore 1 more time and it was possessed & had to go. Drove it for a couple years event free then got rear ended by K car doing about 60 when I was sitting still. Did drive the truck away but I was done with that truck. Let the insurance company have it. It was later spotted at a body shop just across the line in MI.
