I have a 2001 Ford Explorer. Some months ago, I was playing a cd that was burned by a friend. Ever since I have been unable to use my cd player. The radio works fine.
I can put a cd in, and it tries to start, but always displays a "disk error" message.
Please help. I am driving 1200 in 2 days and I NEED my music . I have been trying to find someone locally, but I think the problem is pretty simple. I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars if I don't have to.
I have no idea it this will work or not, but you might try removing the negative battery cable for a couple minutes. This will remove the memory from the Radio/CD.
Or if you can find the fuse for it, just remove and replace the fuse. That will do the same thing, and you might not have to reset the clock.
if it had a home label the cd may have been too thick and caused damage to the cd pick up laser. Try using a CD cleaner. Some cleaners even have small brushes on them. I have also heard of poorly burned Cd's making cd players run very hot and cause damage to internal components.
I had a cd error, is it a 6 cd pack ? Is 1 cd stuck inside? I have a 2002 explorer. Somehow a cd came loose I had to put a piece of paper underneath the cd to eject it. It was a burned cd. Or do you use colored cd's some systems wont play them. I don't think these are the problems but I figure anything might help.
I bought a cd cleaner (with the little brush on it) and it allowed me to put it in, but it still won't play. I couldn't even get it to accept the cleaner.
