Good morning all! A new problem has reared it's ugly head yesterday with my truck. All speakers on the driver's side of the truck are now cutting out. They will play good for a while, but then they will just cut out completely without warning. If I open and shut the driver door, they start working again for a while but will cut out again. Last week, I noticed that the drivers side rear speaker sounded like it was busted (crackling audio coming from it), but I haven't had a chance to bring it in yet to the dealer. Is it possible that the bad speaker could be causing the problem? Could it be shorting and causing the system to cut out on that one side? Also, does anyone know if the speakers are connected in series from front to back? Just trying to figure how the shutting of the door has anything to do, with it. I was thinking a bad connection at the door speaker and, if the speakers are wired in series, that would cause all sound on the drivers side to cutout and maybe opening and shutting the door jostles the connection just enough to make it good for a little while longer. Also, I am entertaining the thought that maybe the rear speaker IS the problem and the air being compressed in the cabin from closing the door makes the cone move just enough to break the short in the speaker and let the sound be once more. Also, wondering if this may be a head unit issue. Lots of ifs....
What do you guys think? How hard is it to get the door panel off to check those connections? Also, anyone remove the stock headunit from the dash? I looked at it real quick and am not sure how to even begin. Now, I have gotten into the dash of every other vehicle I have had, but this one has me intimidated because I don't know how all the Sync stuff is wired in or what. If anyone can shed some light on removing the headunit and getting the door panel off, I would appreciate it. Also, any further ideas on why the speakers are cutting out, please share those as well. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the quick response! I am just wondering what they will say about my aftermarket sub and amp I have installed since purchase. I didn't cut into any wires or anything but just figured it was another reason they may try to shrug the problem off on the aftermarket gear. In the end, I will probably bring it in to them and see how they handle it. I just wanted try and troubleshoot the problem before bringing it in.
And before it is said, I Have throughly checked all my aftermarket connections and everything is perfect. Everything is properly shielded with shrink tubing and insulated connectors throughout. I even disconnected the sub and amp to rule them out and no change. So I feel comfortable that the aftermarket install is not the problem.

Doubt it on the series thing as don't forget, the head unit has the capability for Balance L - R and Fader F - R. This would indicate separate wiring per speaker group (mid-rage 4x6 speaker + tweeter).
Could a short be causing loss of left side audio on the head unit? That would be something you would want a professional to answer. Take it in under warranty.
I have noticed my front driver side going in and out on occasion but I installed a lockpick and figured one of the connections must not have been locked in place all of the way. I need to pull the nav unit out and check all of the connections but just haven't had the time to do it yet.
