What happened to the old articles like "Whiter Whites, Brighter Lights"(or whatever it was) and the one about the disk brake swap? and was there any about steering column swaps?
I have a new wiring harness that I need to get installed but was thinking about getting a ch&*y column because the current one is fairly worn out and I would like to get tilt column, cruise and etc... and the wiring harness is set up for a GM so it plugs right in..
Anyway... what is the best year of column to put in my 65? I do have a power steering unit that I want to add, not sure if I'll have to get another column when I do that? I wont say "any ideas" cuz I know there are tons.. haha
Terry, +1 on carras, I don't know which brake upgrade that you saw, and there have been a couple on here that really have holes in them. The very best way is to buy a 73-76 for FE engine, 73-79 6 cyl with the tranny that you have or want to upgrade to. Moving the complete I-beam set, steering gear, brake booster, everything to your truck. Some 78-79 Lariats had tilt columns, but that is one area that has many options including aftermarket.
I have been a part of upgrading several trucks, I know it works. I used a 76 donor for my truck so anything related under the hood or below the chassis, I can order for a 76 and it fits.
