Steering Column Swap??
I remember hearing along time ago about swaping in another steering column like out of a LTD or something. I was wondering if anyone has done this and how hard was it to wire in and connect the steering shaft, etc? I want to install a locking steering column in my 76 High Boy because these trucks here are hot items to steal on the market where I live and I would like some added security. I have searched all over and haven't had any luck. Any advise/help greatly appreciated.

I installed a 1978 Thunderbird tilt column in my '75, but later took it out and replaced it with a original truck auto column. The t-bird column will work, but the shift bar come out tha bottom of the column close to the brake pedal. You would have to rig up a cable to shift an auto, but that lever would still be in the of the brake pedal. That's I took it back out of mine. Maybe a LTD column would work better. Dave

Thanks for the reply.. I was thinking about it and wonder if an early 80's F Series might work? I would prefer to find one that isn't from a automatic because mine is a 4 speed so it wouldn't matter. Just figuring out the wiring is the fun part...
