I am a new member I have a 65 f250 camper special with a 390 and an np435 with 4.56 gears I was wondering If anyone here is running a t56 or anything similar I am interested in it and would like to stay with a manual
I suspect he is referring to a 1992+ issue Borg Warner T-56 six speed manual transmission.
The first thing to consider is some sort of a bellhousing adapter as I don't believe there was a T-56 ever factory-installed behind a 352 or any other FE engine.
A previous owner has swapped in a newer engine which from looking up the casting numbers on the block and the heads I am guessing is a 390 from about a 1968 passenger car.I know the t56 never came behind an Fe ,but there are adapters available .I was just wondering if anyone here had possibly done the swap and if so how they liked it. I have lurked on this forum for a while just recently became a member.I believe it was number dummy's info that I used to figure out the casting numbers . Thanks in advance for everything guys. Dan
Sorry about that .I am referring to the tremec t56 (magnum)...
Understood. But if they are set up to manufacture a bell housing adaptor for a FE to T5, then all they have to do is machine one side of the bell to accept the T56.
Or go with bucket seats. Check Bill W here on for brackets he has made to fit mustang buckets in these trucks. From the sounds of it shifter may still be to far back for comfort of shifts.
I can have that for you later today. After the Hawks beat the Bears ill be in the garage doing a few things to my 65. This will be a measurement from the back of the block to shift tower on a FE 4x4.

so here is your measurement from the top of the bellhousing where it meets the back of the block.
Thank you buzz that showing to be basically 12" and the t56 magnum on its forward shifter location is 18.9" I might still have to get creative with beding the shifter some but not as bad as I thought unless you guys know of a different six speed with an .50 final overdrive where the shifter would sit slightly closer to stock location when I have enough money I might just have to get one.Dan
