Stupid ??leveling kits

Just a regular f150 owner, so I don't understand why so many level their truck. What is it and why so popular. Does it lower the bed?

Nope. Just raises the front with a spacer. Keeps the original shocks and springs.

I got my levelled when I bought it, I think it is pure aesthetics, however, people do notice it and I haven't regretted it, it takes the slouchy look away from the stock truck.

Barely, it's the larger tires that usually go along with the leveling kit that decrease mpg's the most.

I like the look of a "level" truck.
But: the worst looking thing ever IMO is a truck that is lower in the rear than it is in the front. Looks weak IMO, because it kinda looks like the thing is dragging a$$.
So that's why I am not a big fan of leveling kits. Looks good empty, but as soon as you put 50 lbs in the bed, the nose is up, and that looks so much worse than a truck with a higher rear.
It may work fine if you never haul or tow anything, I guess.

I like the factory look. It sits a little proud in the back like it's ready for a load.

Nothing wrong with leveling a truck, gives it a little more ground clearence, and gets rid of that "hot rod" look. That's kinda what the stock trucks remind me of, those old hot rod cartoons. Probably showing my age with that comment.

I'm curious, how does leveling the truck decrease mileage? I sure didn't lose any mpgs when I leveled mine. As a matter of fact when I first got the truck I was lucky to get 10 mpgs highway, I'm now getting around 18 highway and that is with the leveling kit and larger tires. of course that's not what increased my mileage, I should have actually lost a little with the larger tires, but I did a few other things to it to get some gains in that department.

I have to agree with you on that. Even before I leveled my truck, I would put a load in the back and the damn thing would still sag in the rear. I'm gonna end up getting some air assist rear springs for just such occasions. I hate when guys level their trucks too much and the front end is always sitting up higher than the rear.

I went with the 1.5" leveler as I put larger mudders on the truck.Looks good plus keeps my tries from rubbing except for extreme turns (maybe I should gone higher with the leveler). Chris

Depends on where its rubbing. if your rubbing at full lock on say the stabilizer bars (not sure if that's what they actually are), you may need back spacing for the wheels. I went with with a 2" leveling kit and 33's for the tires and it rubs at full lock on the inside of the tires, so going with a higher leveling kit wouldn't do me any good. I probably need back spacing for my wheels. I don't rub that much or that often so I'm not too concerned about it, it's not eating the tires away, so I'm just gonna let it go. I am certainly happy with the leveling kit and have no regrets, I think the the truck looks 100% better with it, I just can't stand the look of the *** end sticking up in the air, looks like your ready to take up the rear.

Hey Chris, where in Cecil are you? Your more than likely only an hour away from me

I'm with Mitch on this one...I think the truck just looks better leveled. To me it seems more 4x4ish then when it is stock with the front so much lower than the rear.

Now that I think about the stance my truck had when it was stock, it did not sit nearly as high in the rear as some other f150s I have seen stock. It seems like some are way more extreme than others. Mine is a long bed super cab, so it probably wasn't as noticeable as say a regular cab shorty or even an extended cab w/ a 6.5 bed on it. I need to find my pics of the truck before I leveled it and post it with the pics of after leveling for comparison
