1984 F150 351W with 2 bbl. carb. is TFI and feedback carb. At least mine "was". The choke wire still goes to the alternator, but before the swap it was tied in with another wire for some of the computer stuff also going to the alternator. Not sure what the other wire's function was.
Yes, it's a TFI truck. Factory Feedback carb, but now has a built 351w. I will just tear apart the wiring harness, if all it is is keyed 12v for the choke, i will tie it in to the relay I am going to run to power the MSD 6AL box. I Hope.
If you are using the factory carb, the choke is not 12v, it's more like 7 or 8v. It gets it's voltage from the stator (s terminal) of the alternator. They did it this way so if you happened to turn the key on with the engine cold, but did not start the truck right away, or you started it, walked away and it stalled and you did not restart it in a timely manner, a straight powered choke willl keep warming up, but the engine will be cold, and you would have a hard time getting it started. With the factory wiring to the alternator, it doesn't get the choke voltage unless the alternator is turning(engine is running).
GM had a electric choke system also, and they ran it through a oil pressure switch for the same reason. There's was 12v
