Hello all
First off I want to say my truck isnt throwing any codes, nor am I loosing any pressure on the brake peddle.
What is going on is my brakes are working just fine I can stop from any speed and my brakes are performing just fine until I slow to about 5mph.
From 5mph to 0mph it almost feels like I slide on ice for a second, and you hear a sound almost like what you hear when your ABS kicks in. I will feel a slight fluctuation in the brake peddle and then my truck comes to a stop. It is the darnest thing. One machanic I spoke to said he thought is was the vacuume sustem, another thought it may be the brake sensors....
Anyone out there ever have this?
Thank you
Ed
Or, just under hard braking while going ovr bumps/potholes?
If you're running unloaded and the rearend hops due to uneven road or bumps the rear abs will kick in. I have the same thing sometimes when running unloaded and coming to a stop @ a light that has rough pavement in one lane from heavy trucks stopping @ the light.
If I read your post correctly, and I think I did... its got to be one abs wheel sensor, or the speed indicators on the axles the things that the sensors read... Since it happens under 5mph every time it sounds like one of your speed indicators on only one wheel have a few broken teeth, or the abs sensor got knocked away from it a lil. Essentually what i think is; the abs is falsly reading that one wheel is skidding, and the others are still moving telling the abs to kick in... This is just a guess. But from what you say this is the only thing I could think of that would do this every time, at a specific slow speed, with no code.
If it was random at differing speeds I would say it was a shorted wire on a abs sensor, but this would also throw a code at a minimum.
Thanks mark
yes that is great help
thank you
I will tell you, my front end has never been the same since I had my ball joints and front shocks replaced, I have the braking issue and I dont think my shift on the fly works anymore, when I plow I now turn my hubs or else it just feels like im in two wheel drive
Thanks mark

Did you do this maintenance? Ball joints & shocks? This is what could have caused this damage that I suspect is in your ABS system. Also the 4WD is most likely a leaking vaccume line or seal also could have been dammaged during this maintenance. Whoever did the maintenance.... is mostlikely the culperate...
This is all theory, but I have been a pro mech for 20 years, and this is the first thing I ask when something odd ball comes up... What was the last thing that was done to the vech... You would be surprised how often prior maintenance done improperly is the cause of new problems,
Hope you get it right, Mark
Did you ever solve your problem? I have the same issue and have been chasing it for months now. The brakes work fine when initially pressed, but once the truck gets down to less than 5mph the petal goes soft, starts to sink, and the truck starts to pull to the right. While this is happening I also feel some pulsation in the pedal kinda like abs kicking in, but not exactly. I have put pads and rotors on the front and back, changed the master cylinder, and bled the brakes with no change. Also sometimes the brake light comes on while I'm driving it, but I never have any codes and the light goes out on its own.
After years of dealing with the intermittent problem of the truck pulling to the right on slow speed stops (<5mph), I have finally figured it out I think. I found the left front ABS sensor was reading, but its housing was cracked. It always felt like the ABS was kicking on on one wheel, but I couldn't figure it out before and it wasn't throwing any codes. I've had several mechanics check this out without luck and then today while just looking things over during some brake work I found it.
