4x4 High Light Flashes

4x4 High Light Flashes
Hey im new here and I have an 02 Explorer Limited and recently the 4x4 high light will randomly flash, and won't go into 4-High but it will go into 4-Low, and then sometimes it works just fine! I was wondering if it's the Electronic shift control module or maybe the motor any way any of you know how to test if either are bad without buying the parts as they are a little spendy?

u can pull the battery for 24hrs and see if it resets. if the problem disappears or it seems to work for a short time. it could be the electronics. u may also get it to throw a code this way. though even the ford techs seem to have trouble gettin this system to spit codes. if it is one of the shift motors. ull have to take it apart. there seems to be alot of talk about this now that the vehicles are gettin older and nearing their 10 year mark. try runnin a search for no 4x4.
