So I have a 302 EFI in my 90 F150. I've been reading on building a stroker using that same engine. Engine's not worn out, just truck is real slow. Not a problem usually but kinda scary merging onto the highway. But anyway, what is involved and can it be done for cheap (I have college to pay for!) I've heard you upgrade cam, pistons, heads but am still confused. If not are there any cheap performance upgrades I can do?
I agree, go with 351w, dont get me wrong, the 347 is a great engine....but it wont be "cheap". there are cheaper crank, rods, pistons (ebay) available, but then you have the balance issue. with stock heads you wont make a whole lot more power over stock, they will work but will choke the 347. A 351w in stock form will be alot better than the 302, and a 351w with the right parts can easily get to 400 H.P. (heads, cam, intake, etc). I think in the end you'll be happier with the 351w
