Where is signal flasher located on a 2008 F150 FX4 5.4? My problem is both signals work with the truck off but the passenger side blinks very fast in the front but not the rear when the truck is running. Is it the flasher or do I have look deeper? Thanks for the help!!!
That sounds strange if all bulbs are in good shape. Have you actually checked the right rear to see if it is indeed flashing when you have the hazards on, or you just going by the cadence of the lights on cluster? If answer is no I bet your right rear bulb is out.
The quick flash usually means a bulb out.
Put the vehicle in park.
Set the parking brake.
Turn the signal on.
And get out and look!
Now turn on the headlights.
Take another look.
Did anything change?
I'm going to install a new bulb tonight and let you know if that was the problem.
To me it just seems odd that the four-way flasher activated that bulb but the turn signal would not.
The other note I want to add is I had a hard tonue cover installed with add on of a brake light and under cover light. Should I check those connections for corrosion if the bulb replacement doesn't solve the problem? or replace the flasher?
I replaced the bulb and all is well!!! Thanks again!!!!
I turned on the four-way flashers and only one element was working on the passenger side. I'll assume the flasher sensed less resistance and caused the quick flash on the passenger side. Learning.....
P.S.---Where is the flasher located? It's not in the fuse box and I can't see it under the dash on the drivers side or the passenger side. Did they place it behind the radio?
Glad you were able to get it solved. I am not sure of the location or type of flasher relay but I would think it's under the dash near fuses. It is what makes the blinka-blinka noise so maybe track it that way. This reminds me of an old 84’ GMC I used to drive at work. The flasher relay was forever falling out on the floorboard when you hit a bump. That was in the era of K cars and questionable quality all around, my how most things have changed.
My factory manual shows the relay as being located on the main harness under the passenger side of the dash.
Follow the harness as it rises from the power distribution box on the passenger side foot-well.
The harness bends to cross the bottom of the dash and the relay located on the second branch from the right side of the dash.
Opening the glove box, to access the area behind, should give you access to the relay.

Open the glove box.
Grasp the sides and pull them to the middle until the tabs on the sides clear the dash
and then you can tilt the box down out of the way.
I think you can probably see the area you need to look at.
