Hello,
This is my first time on this site. I have always owned ford trucks of one type or another. I recently bought an 88 f-150 long bed with a 351w. A compression test later and number one hole is dead. I pulled the head and the piston has a hole. My question is about whether a 351w engine from say an 85 wagon will work as a bridge while i build an engine that i want. I don't know about the wagon engine and will check it out on monday. Another question is if it is not fuel injected will my intake fit. Any thoughts would be helpful.
the wagon motor will work, just make sure the ignition is the same type (ford used some screwy ignitions during the 80s). if it isnt, use your distributor from your 351. also you may have to change the oil pan and oil pump pickup tube. (im not sure the double sump pan from the wagon will fit in your truck). if your tuuck has efi, switch it over too. for any other questions, you can drop me a line at edenroadmaster(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
Where are you & how soon do you need an engine? Ad removed by admin.
<!-- Admin edit: I have a '96 5.8L MAF from a '96 EB Bronco with about 60Kmi. ---> You'd have to do a lot of rewiring, but it'd be a LOT more worthwile than putting an OLD engine in. I've put a '95 engine into my '83, so it's certainly do-able.
thanks for your reply. i have not had a v-8 engine since my 64, but am looking forward to fixin this one up. i checked on that engine, it is from a 79 sedan. it runs smooth and the compression checks good. will this still work ? i just want the truck running through the winter as i work on the rebuild.
No problem - I figured it was a legit post since I thought I was pushing the idea of an EFI swap more than strictly selling MY engine, but I'll do it differently next time.
