I just bought a 1983 Ford Ltd station wagon with a 351w and C4 transmission in it. I also have a 1984 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 351w and C4 transmission in it. I want to pull the motor and transmission from the wagon and put it in the truck because I am going to rebuild the truck 351w motor.
Here is my question, Will the motor and tranny from the 83 wagon fit exactly to my 84 F150 4x4??
How long will it take and is this switch easy enough to do?
It will take a weekend. Yes the motor will swap straight across. The tranny however may have a different tailshaft length. I would keep the tranny that's in the truck and just swap the motor.
The engine will fit if you change to the truck oil pan/pickup tube. 2wd trans will not fit 4wd truck. The car trans might be a c4 but your truck will have a c6.
I guess I was wrong about the transmission. It is a C6 by the looks of it. I just replaced the transmission pan and it has the shape of the C6. Thanks for that note ecarter50 I appreciate it. However I do not understand what you mean by changing to the truck oil pan/pick up tube. Can you elaborate on that for me...
