Hi folks -new to the forum and I'm looking for a few parts and some info.... I have a 64 short bed with a 223ci I6 with a 4 in the floor. Who is the best company to deal with? I have a LMC book...real high on their prices. Anyone know of any other companies?
I need an air filter and a new tie rod, anybody have one or both of these items?
Also, is there a intake manifold and a 2 barrel made for the 223 ci engine?
Thanks for your help.
Dennis carpenter is the best source for most restoration type parts. I dunno about the manifold but the tie rod or full assembly can be had NOS...Those kind of parts should be able to be had by local parts stores I would think as well.
Welcome to FTE
when asking about parts, mention the year, model, trans, 2 or 4WD etc..it helps locate part numbers easier w/o guessing..As I and a few others here have the Ford Parts books to look them up. Also, If you post the info from your Warranty Plate on the driver side door below the latch I or others can decode that as well.
If you don't like LMC's prices, you won't like Carpenter's either. Most repro parts sellers prices are similar, but LMC is one of the cheapest.
You think you bought an old truck, but what you really bought is a hobby...and hobbies tend to be expensive.
The tie rod ends are sold as individual parts, are not part of the tie rod, as they thread on/off. Tie rod ends can be bought from NAPA and other autoparts stores.
The only reason to replace the rod itself is...if it gets bent.
Thanks a million for your help and I do realize the costs that can be involved.-I collect Triumph motorcycles as well, sold 11 of them last yr and have 9 left. Actually I find LMC is the best when it comes to parts, was just courious if there was anyone cheaper -work is real slow these days. My tie rod tube does have a bow in it, so that tells me someone snagged a stump or curb at some point.
Thank you for y'alls help, this is a very helpful sight.
Same set up as mine but I have 3 on the tree. Clifford Performance offers a manifold that will do either a 2 or 4 barrel. Headers too. Clifford Performance :: Make 6 = 8 I have their headers from the previous owner but still have the stock intake and 1 barrel. I have also used MACs for somethings as it is in my hometown and I grew up with the owners kid, so I like giving them some business. My Dad had two TR6 cars and a TR6 bike when I was growing up. Would love to get either one of my own someday when the money is right.
GLR I had heard that so much when I did mine front windshield and both door glass I went with DC they fit great. The Glass shop was impressed with the fit on the windshield. Said it was the best fit they had seen
