Hey guys this is probably my 3rd or 4th coolant thread...sorry for all these questions about coolant. I couldnt find Delo ELC (red) in concentrate so when I ordered my coolant hoses and tstat from the dealer I asked about their coolant. I figured one stop shop. The guy in parts put me on hold and asked one of the techs about the gold if its ELC and they said yes. I just read on the powerstroke forum that the gold isnt ELC??
found my ELC at Carquest. You can go an INTL. shop/dealer, CAT dealer,..etc, and find your ELC coolant. Theres also a thread/link, if googled, as to what types/brand ELC is acceptable to our vehicles, which is ALOT.

MC Gold is a long life coolant (5 years 150k miles) but not an extended life coolant (4-8 year and 300k-1million mile) lives. Cat EC - 1 and Cummins CES14603 spec coolants are considered ELCs.
Save yourself a lot of time, money andfrustration. Find an owner's manual and use what is recommended. Lot's of opinions cost money
ELC can save time & money. The extra cost of ELC is easily recovered and can save money in the long run. Most likely the last time you ever have to do a coolant flush and fill. No need to use SCAs so no test strips or testing. No need for a coolant filter. Water pump lasts longer without SCAs. Much less chance of cavitation erosion. There is a reason that truck fleets use it.

The Ford gold is NOT a heavy duty OAT ELC. It is a hybrid OAT long life coolant.

Normally referencing the owners manual is a good idea, but in this case, coolants have evolved and there are better ones available for the L99 and newer trucks, that being a CAT EC-1 heavy duty Organic Acid Technology Extended Life Coolant.
By the way, this is not my opinion or anyone else's opinion, this is fact. A HD OAT ELC is better than the factory filled coolant for the L99 7.3L PSD's and up, and it is what's recommended by International, the company that made the 7.3L for Ford.
You can go to dodge dealer, a bad word, and they have there brand with the dodge name on it for there cummins. Its elc like said above. Just make sure you flush completly before adding it. Thats means the block.

Mopar coolant is hoat, basically the same thing as gold dyed a different color. If you read the back it is not ec-1 rated.

Wrong. There cummins coolant is ELC and suppost to be the same as delo elc. I wasn't talking about standard coolant. The only reason I know this I was looking for ELC for my boy and I have a friend that owns or did own now Fram dodge and his parts guy brought this up. I ended up with Cat elc for his 6.0L after head bolts, etc..

Rufushusky, when in doubt I guess don't use. You brought enough doubt to make me think about it so I am not going to recommend it again. I thought I was advised my pretty good authority on this subject being they were dodge owners and parts guy but you changed my mind. Thats what all the FTE brothers are about. Thanks alot. Its a live and learn world out there and being fooled does happen. God Bless, Chet

Like everyone else, I am just hear to learn and share the little knowledge I have. Appreciate the kind words!
And Mopar didn't make it easy have a pinkish red, the typical ELC color, for their HOAT while the rest of the world has gold colored HOATs.
