When I turn my key to the run position but do not start the truck, I hear what I assume is the fuel pump building pressure.....
It will run for about 1 min, then shut off for 15 seconds then do the same over and over????
Is this correct? shouldn't it build pressure then hold?
Truck seems to run ok.......If it matters it is an 04 but an 03 build.....
Thanks
Depending on which flash you've got on your truck...you could also be hearing the injectors "buzz". Assuming your running OEM filters, you shouldn't hear the pump run that long. Don't guess you happen to have a fuel pressure gauge installed to confirm wither you fuel pressure is falling off?
The fuel pump is under the drivers seat, basically. It should run for about 20 seconds or so and then shut off until you try to start the truck. Pressure will drop immediately when the pump shuts off.
Check to see if what you are hearing is the vacuum pump on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It's more likely the problem, but it also means you have a vacuum leak.
Turn on the key and get out and start listening to stuff.
