I'm about to swap out my filter assembly and/or intake and was wondering on how the 6637 holds up to the AIS. I know the AIS is more expensive, but any other pros/cons??
There may be some benefits one over the other but either one is a great addition to getting cleaner air in the turbo.Myself,I like the 6637.Why?I like the whistle of the turbo.
BTW...Thanks for your service!
If you tow a heavy trailer the AIS will be quieter. I have to say a trip from Houston to Colorado towing my 5th wheel makes me wish I had an AIS instead of the 6637.
Is the AIS a FORD part? and is it still available? I know the filters for it are EXPENSIVE!!
BTW did you all see my post about the FRAM TOUGHGUARD Air filters?
The stock Late '99-'03 7.3 takes the TGA9400 unit.....I've had good luck with these type of drop ins...

The AIS part# 2U2Z-9K635-AA or FA-1759 & I'm pretty sure it's still available
The filters might be a little pricey but they last a good while

I'm just not a fan of the box design at all, mine is starting to warp and my turbo is starting to show signs of dusting. I've hit big mud holes and found traces of moisture inside of my intake post filter, and I'm running a TG filter.
AIS is premium filtration, much more costly, and significantly quieter.
6637 is really really good filtration, very economical, and allows much more turbo noise to be heard.
Both have higher air flow ratings in comparision to stock.
In addition to what Pete said:
They both have shown excellent results on used oil analysis reports with under 10 ppm silicon. But if you are throwin water n mud and found traces of water post filter then you might be better off with the AIS or the 6637 synthetic filter media (not the paper media) with one of these covers.
Ran a 6637 for awhile & bought the AIS. Loud vacuum cleaner sound under the hood was an issue for me while towing long distances on the highway. Either one is great, I just prefer the OEM look.
Doing this from my phone so I can't see the sigs. Just wanted to add that cab noise also depends alot on the year of your truck since the later models seem to have better insulation. My 2000 Ex has more cab noise than my 2003.
