I converted from the 6.8L v-10 to a 2006 6.0L with 95,000 on it. The previous owner straight piped the exhaust thats all i can tell, but i love it. My first question is what additives should you use when filling up or in the winter and how often do u use it.
A lot of folks on here use Diesel Kleen additive. Gray bottle in the summer, white bottle in the winter. I just picked up a bottle of white at Wal-Mart for $16.95
Use it every tank.
There are other additives others use, like the Ford product.
X2 on the ScanGauge
Like Tyler said whole diffrent animal get Some Gauges on it SOON
160.00 for SG at AutoZone Money well spent there
theres some pretty tight specs that need to be maintained on the 6.0L and if you let them get out theres a Snowball effect with Em But your already way ahead of most folks. Lots Dont find FTE till there broke Down and its too late
If you keep an eye out the Tractor Supply (at least in my area) runs a sale on the white and grey bottles of Diesel Kleen every now and then and that is usually when I stock up. Just picked up a few of the larger white bottles (80oz) for 11.99/each.
I held off for a while on purchasing the ScanGaugeII for no reason inperticular. Since I have had it (2-3 months) I would say that I wished I would have bought it sooner. Luckily I found that everything was running up to spec.
i use the single shot motorcraft cetane booster. red bottle. every fillup. all year round. works great. smooth startups too. i have a contract wif my ford dealership in houston. hence, i get my parts and additives at least 25% off. my single shot red bottle, i get it for 5 bucks a piece. then again, i buy quite a bunch each time.
welcome to the 6.0. i hope ur happy wif her as i have been wif mine.
assuming you can buy winterized or seasonal fuel, the only additive you NEED is called diesel fuel. now if you plan to buy straight #2 in winter and then go somewhere cold while you still have the fuel in the tank then additives "may" be needed. assuming you buy fuel where its warm and then travel someplace cold, just buy fuel at your destination before you park it. too many of us even way up here in the great white north run NO additive year round and have no issues. 200,000 miles on 6.0's no regular additive, no injector issues in 4 years
