I dont know if this has been asked yet, but I am wondering if a 7.3 swap out from the 6.0 is possible. I would imagine that it would be, just a question.
Thanks.
Ya, it should be possible. I don't know of anyone that's done it. I know of at least 3 trucks I have seen in person that have swapped in a mechanical cummins 5.9. One was a v10, the rest were 6.0's

Sure, it's possible. It won't be easy or cheap, but it's possible. With enough time and money I can swap ANY engine into your truck. All it takes is cubic money and unlimited time.
Kert-
I see you have 220K on 6.0L. Have you hasd any issues?
I've only owned it for the last year and 20k. I've put a used low mile turbo on it, re soldered the FICM. Previous owner put on a new oil cooler. Still has stock head bolts to my knowledge hanging on by hopes and dreams...
A local shop in town will do the 5.9 cummins swap into a 6.0 for $15k. That will include a new custom built 5.9, all wiring so all guages and cruise works, and keeping the torque shift, but I believe a new lower stall torque converter.
I priced doing it myself buying a 5.9 and rebuilding it myself and doing the conversion, and it was around $6k
I look at it like this, you want a cummins go buy a dodge, you want a duramax go buy a chevy.
You want a 7.3 go buy an older Powerstroke.
As soon as you pull the motor and make new mounts cut the frame and weld up stuff, the truck will NEVER be the same, I don't care what way you cut it, and when you go to resell the truck(if you ever do) it would probably scare a lot of people away.
Okay, thanks for the info everyone. I was just wondering, I have had great luck with my 6.0 so far. I was wondering because there is a guy i know thta comes into my work everyday and he has a 2006 6.0L and he has spent well over $6K on his motor with all his issues. So thats why I was wondering. Thanks again.

I'm not disagreeing with you. But I wonder how much you would have to cut and modify in order to drop a 6.0 into a post 05 truck. -Mike
ah, I was really talking more about swaping a Cummins into a Ford.
If someone were to really want a 7.3 and have the 05+body style, they make everything to swap the body parts out(bumpers headlights etc) to make it look like an 05. IMO that would be easier

Every Cummins swaped Ford I have ever seen go for sale has brought way more than a stock truck. This includes 5.9's into 3/4 and ton trucks and 4bt's swaped into f150's and Rangers/Explorers. Lets face it, a Ford frame and body will last years longer than a Dodge body in the rust belt. Most around here see it as the best of both worlds scenario to put a Cummins in a Ford body.
I'm not necessarily planning a swap, I'm hoping I can keep the 6.0 going at least past 300k, but if it does ever blow, I think it will be cheaper and more reliable in the long run to do the 5.9 swap to keep the truck on the road.
An example of cheaper in the long run...
Injectors for a 6.0 - $330 each
Injector SET for a 5.9 - $600
