e40d solenoid pack/drive question
I have ultra slow acceleration in drive so i start off in 2 and then shift into d after im at about 25 mph or so. is this ok to do. because i just got a price of 400 somethin for a replacement solenoid pack from the dealer; theres no way im payin that anytime too soon. the solenoid pack plug broke a pin so its not working properly. ive been driving this way for over amonth now and it doesnt seem to be worsening. but i figured i ask thank you

You can replace the pack yourself its not hard to do at all and no where near worth 400 dollar price tag.
I bought a "New" pack at Napa for 90 bucks couple years back.
Unplug the pack and drop the pan, remove the few bolts holding it in place. Don't recall the exact count but all but one of them are torx and one 10mm IIRC. Pull the pack straight down to remove it. Installing its reverse of removal.
Take the opportunity to change the trans filter while your in there, when you remove the filter make sure its seal comes out with it. Compare old and new filters side by side if any doubt about it. The seal tends stay up in the trans coming off the filter when the filter is removed, no big deal and not a problem if you're aware of it.
Anyway nothing technical about the job nothing requiring adjustment just a easy swap job.
You should also drain the tc while your under there that way you can fill it will all new fluid rather then just 4 or 5 quarts.
You should find a rubber plug in the bottom of the bellhousing just below where the tc is located, remove that plug and slowly rotate motor until tc drain plug is directly above the hole. Remove drain plug allowing all fluid to drain.
To refill, add 6 quarts start motor and shift trans throughout range a minute then put it back in park and turn motor off. Add 6 more quarts and start motor shift throughout range again. Now it has enough in it to add one at a time with motor running until full however move shifter throughout range between each quart or two added.
E4OD fluid capacities 16.2 (2 wheel drive) to 17.7 (4 wheel drive)
