tranny trouble please help
With the issue you stated, I would expect more error codes.
Here is a clip from my Ford Service CD:
DTCs 91/621, 92/622, 93/626, 94/627, 629, 641, 652 indicate solenoid did not change state when requested by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
DTC 86/566 or 89/629 indicates that the CCO or 553/4-4/3 did not change state when requested by the PCM.
Possible causes:
-- Damaged solenoid/assembly
-- Open or shorted harness (internal/external)
-- Damaged PCM
before going ape***** with parts pull off the connector to the solenoid pack and check/clean them on both sides. Ford changed the connector design in 1995 to lessen the possibility of water/moisture getting into the connector and corroding them.
First thing I'd do is get under the truck, follow the harness make sure nothing damaged it down to the trans. Harness connects to the solenoid pack on the passenger side above the pan, plug is vertical. Do not pry it off with a screwdriver you will damage the pack. Push the release button unplugging it by hand only.
Remove the harness connector from the trans, use a mirror to look down into the solenoid packs connector make sure its not flooded with trans fluid. Should be dry in there little bit of dielectric grease yea but none of the red stuff.
If the harness is determined to be undamaged there are some tests that can be done narrow down the cause, determine if the pack is the cause or not.
